A magna cum laude graduate of Middlebury College, Xander earned his B.A. in English and American Literature. He has completed an M.A. in Literature at the Bread Loaf School of English at Middlebury College, as well as an M.A. and Ph.D. in English from Stanford University. Xander has earned many achievements for academic excellence, including the Andrew Smith Memorial Essay Prize (for the best essay by a first-year English Ph.D.), Stanford's Centennial Teaching Award for work with undergraduates, and a Stolley-Ryan American Literature Prize for American Literature. Xander was an honors graduate of Deerfield Academy. Before joining Advantage Testing, he taught a range of courses at Stanford University and was a faculty member at Phillips Academy Andover and at the Chinese International School of Hong Kong.
