Andrew earned his B.A. in English and Religious Studies from Rice University, where he edited two books with a faculty mentor as a Rice Century Scholar and was the first editor-in-chief of the Rice English department’s literary journal. Andrew then earned his M.F.A. in fiction in the University of Houston’s Creative Writing Program, where he also taught drama, fiction, and composition. Recognized for academic excellence, Andrew is a National Merit Finalist, a Rice Trustee Distinguished Scholar, a University of Houston Presidential Graduate Fellow, and a recipient of four National Latin Exam gold medals. One thing that Andrew loves about tutoring, especially high school students students, is that because tests come at a stage in life when students are beginning to develop skills of self-direction and independence, he can work to cultivate a sense of intrinsic motivation as he coaches them toward college readiness. Outside of tutoring, Andrew enjoys film, books, photography, and travel.
