Max is a native of Orange, California, and a graduate of Yale University, where he received a B.A. in Art and pursued significant coursework in creative writing, English literature, and French language. During college, he studied poetry writing under Louise Glück and performed nationwide as a member of Yale’s improv comedy troupe The Viola Question. Since college, Max has lived and worked in Los Angeles, first as a music editor for film and television and then as a screenwriter, having written for several television series, including Life in Pieces (CBS) and Genera+ion (HBO Max).

Max is a classically trained pianist, a founder of the LA-based music collective mmarz, and a resident DJ on Dublab Radio. He is also a professional musical whistler, having competed in the Masters of Musical Whistling showcase in 2015 and 2023. In his spare time, Max can be found tinkering at the piano, studying Italian, playing chess, and redesigning his living room.
