Lauren graduated from Purdue University with a B.A. in Professional Writing and a minor in art and design, and she earned an M.A. in Education with a teaching certification from Portland State University. She worked as a curriculum writer and developer for four years and as a classroom teacher in kindergarten and fourth grade for eight years. Lauren continues to be a substitute teacher and active volunteer in the Portland school district. Lauren has two young kids of her own, and she enjoys hiking, reading, and drawing.
