Lara earned her B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Film & Television from Boston University, where she developed a strong foundation in critical thinking, argumentation, and civic engagement. Her interest in persuasive communication began earlier, as a Public Forum debater in high school, and continued through her work as an instructor at the Lexington Debate Institute. In this role, she helped students refine their analytical skills, craft compelling arguments, and become more confident speakers.
Alongside her academic and teaching experience, Lara has been deeply involved in advocacy work. She has volunteered with the ACLU of Massachusetts, where she co-founded and led two youth organizations and was selected to participate in the organization’s first regional training weekend for top volunteer leaders. She later continued her work with the ACLU of Massachusetts as a Racial Justice Intern, further advancing her commitment to equity and social justice.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Lara enjoys developing new recipes, seeing movies in theaters, and taking long walks while exploring new places.
