Ben earned a B.S. in Chemistry from Emory University and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
During graduate school, his experience as a teaching assistant sparked a passion for science education, leading him to pivot from scientific research to a dedicated career in teaching. Ben has since taught at several Southern California universities, including UCLA, Loyola Marymount University, and CSU Channel Islands. He also brings significant experience at the secondary level, having served as a chemistry instructor at UCLA's Geffen Academy.
As an educator, Ben emphasizes active learning, deep conceptual understanding, and critical thinking, helping students bridge the gap between abstract scientific theory and real-world experience.
In his free time, Ben is an avid rock climber and enjoys cooking, hiking, photography, watching movies, and playing video games. He is also an advocate for mental health awareness and previously volunteered as a crisis counselor for the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
