Tutor of: ACT, SSAT, ISEE; HSPT, Academic Math, Academic English, Academic Reading, Writing Instruction
Barbara is a cum laude graduate of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, with a B.A. in Intermediate Education and a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Houston, with an M.A. in Math Education. Barbara has been recognized for excellence throughout her career of more than three decades: she received the University of Houston Middle School Mathematics Program’s National Science Foundation Grant, and she has had her biography published in Who’s Who of American Women and Who’s Who Among American Teachers. Barbara believes that a key to tutoring is to teach students, not subjects. She takes every opportunity to create individual lesson plans for each student that will help them grow both academically and personally. She understands that being a constant learner is essential to being a good tutor, energizing her to learn something new every day. She tries to be a positive force in the life of every student who she is fortunate enough to tutor. When she is not working with students, Barbara enjoys time with her friends and family (including her rescued cat and dog), music, concerts, theater, swimming, walking, and dining out.
