Where to Begin

1. The first step is to call a program consultant at one of the Advantage Testing locations listed below. In our initial discussion, we can learn about your situation and needs, and you can learn about how we might address them. Any information about a student's previous scores, academic background, goals, learning style, personal preferences, and schedule is helpful to us. In turn, we can advise you on what steps to take next to optimize the student's preparation.

2. For standardized test programs, the typical second step is for the student to take a diagnostic test with us in the appropriate subject area, such as an SAT. We can arrange a test time for the student, usually on a weekend. The diagnostic is a good opportunity for the student to meet the test without pressure or anxiety, and for us to gauge the student's initial strengths and weaknesses. After the student has taken the diagnostic, we will have the results within a day or two. At your convenience, one of our program consultants will review the results with you in detail. We formulate a specific tutoring plan, including our recommendations for the most appropriate tutors, based on diagnostic results in conjunction with all other relevant information about the student.

3. If you choose to go forward with the tutoring program, we can then make the arrangements. The tutor and student meet and begin their work together. The length and intensity of our programs make it imperative that the teaching relationship between tutor and student be excellent. Tutors and administrators alike make every effort to ensure that it is; students and families can rest assured that our one-on-one programs are individualized and adaptable. At any phase in the process, program consultants are available as a resource.

Rates and Financial Aid

Tutoring rates at Advantage Testing locations vary. For example, in Houston our rates begin at $95 per 50 minutes and are pro-rated accordingly, whereas in New York City rates start at $195 per 50 minutes. Other fees for registration, test administration, and materials may be involved, depending on the location and the students program. The duration and frequency of meetings vary according to the specific programs, needs, learning styles, and goals of individual students.
