Parker graduated from Tulane University, earning a B.S. in Mathematics with departmental honors, and he is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Mathematics at Rice University. During his undergraduate time, he enjoyed leisurely assisting friends with math and providing rigorous tutoring in calculus. Throughout his Ph.D. program, Parker has continued tutoring for high school and early undergraduate math courses. For three semesters, he served in the Rice Math Help Room, where undergraduates in any calculus course may come for support with coursework and exam preparation. He has also had the opportunity to TA for various math courses at Rice, directly interacting with students and attempting to make the learning process as lively and fun as possible. He believes excitement is a key to a successful learning environment and loves teaching through colorful metaphors, reducing intimidating concepts to familiar pictures and ideas. In his spare time, he enjoys listening to music, playing the guitar, exercising, cooking, and playing chess.
