Fran Bigman in Boston, MA

Fran graduated magna cum laude from Brown University with a B.A. in History and went on to study at the University of Cambridge, where she was awarded a Cambridge International Scholarship. She earned her M.Phil. and Ph.D. in English from Cambridge, where she taught literature and film to undergraduate students, and then held a Wellcome Trust postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Leeds. Fran, who also has an M.A. in Journalism from NYU, spent four years working in book publishing and has contributed book reviews to the Boston Globe and the Washington Post, among other publications. 

Fran has more than 20 years of tutoring experience in both test preparation and academic tutoring. She has worked with gifted students to provide extra academic enrichment and with students facing the challenges of dyspraxia, dyslexia, and dysgraphia. She loves helping her academic tutoring students learn how to organize paragraphs and then entire essays and discussing the books they read for English and History with them.

Fran lives in Newton with her husband and baby son. In her spare time, she loves to swim, bake scones, and plan future trips!
