SAT Subject Test: World History
- The World History Subject Test gauges a student’s knowledge of the broad sweep of world civilization.
- Questions generally pertain to the most salient issues of an historical period (e.g., the Renaissance or the Tang dynasty) or a specific culture (e.g., the Roman Empire or the birth of Christianity or Islam).
- A student with a fairly strong and recent background in historical events, dates, and periods might consider taking the World History test.
Test Calendar
- The World History Subject Test is given only twice a year, in December and in June.
- We recommend that students take the test soon after completing academic courses in European or, ideally, World History.
- For students concurrently enrolled in a related history course, the June date would therefore be the preferred test administration.

Our Approach
Content of Program
Tutors analyze the student's diagnostic test results to determine not only the precise historical periods a student may have covered at school or elsewhere but also the degree to which the student has retained and can apply the previously studied material. Our tutors then cover the most significant material that a student is expected to know. The first substantive chapter begins with prehistory and subsequent chapters move forward systematically through the different eras until arriving at the early 21st century.
By proceeding chronologically, the student can observe in a comparative way the different civilizations in each era. For example, a student might follow a review of Medieval Europe, the Byzantine Empire, and Islam from 500-1500 AD with a review of Asian history from the same time period. Meetings, homework, and timed practice tests all provide opportunities for the exercise and refinement of the skills emphasized during tutoring sessions.
